Quality Grading
Grading Colorless Diamonds
In order to assess the value of a diamond, laboratories have created a grading system used internationally since the 1950’s. This system is based on the well known 4 Cs, which are used to grade all diamonds, whether colorless or colored.
Colorless Diamonds Certificates
The diamond certificate is often called the fifth C, in reference to the famous 4 Cs. This says how important diamonds certificates can be.
The diamond certificate highlights important pieces of information about the diamond
It also points out the treatments that might have been done on the stone, such as laser drills and HPHT. Additionally, the document mentions the possible fluorescence of the diamond, and its color.
In addition to the 4 Cs, a diamond certificate mentions the serial number that has been engraved on the diamond’s girdle, when there is one.
