Royal Ascot: Gold Cup and Yellow Diamonds

The Royal Ascot is an annual race held in June, and the five-day whirlwind of excitement and color is one of Britain’s most celebrated events. This year’s race took place between June 18-22 and welcomed a record 300,000 visitors, dressed in the most extravagant splendor.

Two of Ascot's most thrilling events take place on day three: “Ladies’ Day," known for its sartorial elegance, and the “Gold Cup,” Ascot's most historic race.

Frankie Dettori rode four winners on Ladies’ Day and received the coveted Gold Cup for the second year in a row from The Queen. Her Majesty looked effortlessly elegant wearing a chic dove grey coat with yellow floral stitching around the neckline, and elevated the look with a matching brooch adorned with yellow diamonds. This spray of three yellow daffodils flowers set in diamond leaves could be, according to WHO, a gift from the Sultan of Oman.
