Australian Company Finds 131.5 carat White Diamond in Angola

By Macauhub, January 14, 2014. Australian company Lonrho Mining Ltd of Perth has found a large high quality white diamond totalling 131.5 carats (26.3 grams) at its concession in Lulo, Angola, the company said in a statement.

The diamond is 5 centimetres long and was found with other diamonds, one of which was 38.3 carats and another of 8.7 carats.

The managing director of Lonrho Mining Ltd, Miles Kennedy, said that the discovery of these three stones showed there were large diamond deposits in the concession area.

The Australian company initially started exploring the Lulo concession, in Lunda Norte, about two years ago in partnership with state company Empresa Nacional de Diamantes de Angola (Endiama). (macauhub)
