Fancy Vivid Pink VVS1 Diamond Tops Christie’s New York Sale

(IDEX Online) – Auctioneer Christie’s New York Important Jewels sale on June 10 raised $27,534,750.
Top lot was an oval-cut fancy vivid pink VVS1 diamond weighing 5.50 carats bought for $9,753,000 ($1,740,545 per carat).
Rahul Kadakia, International Head of Christie’s Jewelry, commented, “Colored diamonds continued their fabulous run at Christie’s spring auction season, with multiple phone lines bidding enthusiastically on the vivid pink.
“With the sale of the Winston Blue, The Ocean Dream, and the Oval Vivid Pink, Christie’s achieved $42 million for these three exceptional diamonds alone.”
Meanwhile, a rectangular-cut D-color VVS1 potentially internally flawless diamond of 20.08 carats, by Taffin, sold for $3.09 million, $153,240 per carat.
A rectangular-cut fancy light pink VS1 diamond of 5.91carats was bought for $1.84 million, or $310,490 per carat. A circular-cut diamond and emerald long chain necklace, by Leviev was acquired for $965,000, and a pair of pear-shaped D-color internally flawless diamond ear pendants of 5.46 and 5.00 carats was sold for $905,000.
