Most Anticipated Jewelry Sale of the Season

[New-York] One of the world’s finest collections of Indian jewellery and bejeweled objects has been auctioned in New York on June 19. Christie's Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence sale achieved an astronomical total of $109.3 million. Amongst this coveted 400-lot sale from the Al Thani collection, outstanding Mughal jewels, European-Indian hybrid designs and bespoke 20th-Century creations were offered to sale. This unparalleled auction featured a number of outstanding historical Golconda diamonds, which included natural fancy colored diamonds.

Art Deco brooch with natural Fancy Orange-Brown circular old-cut diamond in center, surrounded by colorless old-cut diamonds set in platinum and 18k white gold. Signed by Cartier and acquired for $112,500 (with buyer's premium).

“Pink Golconda Diamond.” A 10.46 carats natural light pink, oval brilliant-cut, VVS1 clarity (potentially Internally Flawless), Type IIa diamond set in an exquisite ring from JAR fetched $1,695,000.

A 7.56 carats old mine brilliant-cut, natural fancy light pink diamond with VS1 clarity was auctioned for $471,000.

The Al Thani Collection still owns more than 6,000 works of art —spanning from the ancient world to the present day— part of which will be shown at the Hôtel de la Marine in Paris, starting in Spring 2020.
