[Langerman Diamonds] Christie’s sold a rectangular-cut, 51.35-carats, diamond at its Magnificent Jewels auction in New York on Wednesday December 7th, 2016. It had been estimated at $5 million to $7 million and fetched $5.6 million.
Accompanied by a report from the GIA stating the diamond as a D color, VVS1 clarity - potentially Internally Flawless - Christie's sold the rectangular-cut, Type IIa diamond, of 51.35-carats, for $108,423 per carat.
Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure type of diamond and often have exceptional optical transparency.
