At its semi-annual Geneva sale, of 15 November 2016, Christie's featured an impressive spectrum of coloured diamonds.
One of the top lot, a pear-shaped, Fancy vivid pink, VS2 clarity diamond, weighing 9.14 carat mounted between tapered baguette-cut diamond shoulders was sold for $18,174,631, or $2,000,000 per carat.
The Fancy vivid pink pear-shaped diamond, accompanied with a GIA report affirming its status as “Fancy Vivid Pink" - the highest possible color grading - went to a “big mega Asian collector" according Christie’s international head of jewelry Rahul Kadakia. The Asian private buyer who acquired the pink diamond renamed the stone ‘The Light of Memory.’
