Rare Pink Diamond Will Be Auctioned by Sotheby’s
Sotheby’s to Auction 15.10 carat Blue Diamond
The De Beers Cullinan Blue, a 15.10 carats fancy vivid blue diamond will be auctioned at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong during the month of April.
The 39.35 carat rough diamond was discovered by Petra Diamonds in Culliman mine, South Africa, in April 2021. The diamond has been polished to become the largest flawless step cut vivid blue diamond that GIA has graded.
Sotheby’s has highlighted that up to date, only five blue diamonds weighing more than 10 carats have been auctioned and none of them were bigger than 15 carats. The initial price set for the diamond is $48 million, but experts believe that due to its rarity and quality, the diamond could reach record prices.
