New Global Diamond Report 2021-22 released by AWDC and Bains
The 11th annual report on the diamond industry prepared by the AWDC and Bain & Company was named “A Brilliant Recovery Shapes Up”. The report discussed the effects of the Covid pandemic, how the industry reacted, and insights and future expectations for the different segments.
A few highlights of the report:

The diamond industry had an excellent recovery in revenue in 2021: 62% in the diamond mining segment, 55% for cutting and polishing, and 29% for diamond jewelry retail

2021 saw a high demand for diamonds, especially in the 2nd half of the year.

Both rough and polished diamonds saw an increase in price reaching close to pre-pandemic levels at the end of the year.

Profit margins recovered to pre-pamdemic levels across the value chain

Demamd for polished and rough diamonds as well as diamond jewely expected to continue growing in the 1st half of 2022
