Color Diamonds Break Records at Geneva Sale

The Farnese blue diamond, which was passed down through European royal families for 300 years, sold at auction in Geneva on Tuesday for $6.7 million beating auctioneers Sotheby’s estimate of $3.5-5.0 million.

The Geneva sale of 372 lots saw fantastic results and several natural color diamond auction records price-per-carat were set:

A 2.52-carat fancy vivid yellowish green diamond fetched $938,174.

A 2.63-carat fancy vivid purplish pink diamond realized $2.4 million

Fancy Purple-Pink

A 5.04-carat fancy purple-pink diamond ring sold for $1.4 million

Fancy Light Purplish Pink

A 9.70-carat fancy light purplish pink  diamond sold for $2.59 million


High bid prices for brooches, rings and other bespoke jewels set with color diamonds demonstrated strong demand for natural fancy color diamonds.
